In the Second week we will learn 3D & 2D Design
This week's assignment
1.Try as many as possible 2D/2.5D/3D design tools
2.Make a possible design of final project
The main goal of this week's assignment is experimenting with new tools and learning new techniques. What I have experience before were,
•.Adobe illustrator
•.Adobe Photoshop (beginner)
•.Autodesk Fusion 360(beginner)
And what I decided to try this week is also some of the 3D design application,
Both Tinkercad and Inventor able to draw 3D and both software have their limitation.
I will use some advanced application to draw my final project. This is not easy to learn how to draw as I don't have any cad drawing background.
I am using tiker cad For 3D designing.Because it is simple and easier for a beginner to design simple things. I
created firstly an account in tiker CAD.There are many tools and basic shapes inside this web based tool for designing.
I selected Helping Tools > Ruler as a guide for my drawing, then draw a box and key in the size. I then drew another box, 6mm smaller than the first, and choose hole, to cut the shape out of the first box. After that I grouped them together so that only the outline will appeared. For the hole I choose circle and turn in 90degree and choose hole and group. Then I make a thin box to be layer and move the z axis to make it float. lastly I do the top circle.
3D Design
- Tinkercad is a fun, easy to use, web-based 3D design application. You don’t need any design experience - Tinkercad can be used by anyone.
The first thing you will want to do on Tinkercad is create a user account. This will allow you to save your designs within your personal account. You will need to provide some basic information, and be sure to choose a password.
- 3D is defined as a system or effect used in a movie or object to provide three dimensions - width, length and depth.
Objects that are rendered visually on paper, film or on screen in three planes representing width, height and depth (X, Y and Z). In the computer, a 2D drawing program can be used to illustrate a 3D object; however, in order to interactively rotate an object in all axes, it must be created as a 3D drawing in a 3D drawing program.
Onshape:
I went through different reviews and videos for a next level 3D designing application. I found suggestion from my colleagues as well regarding this.
There is an on line 3D designing application called Onshape which is powerful. Best thing in the on line applications are I just need an Internet connection. No need of installing and then saving the design files etc.
Only thing needed is to create an account with email ID and password.
I can draw. No need of saving the design. It automatically saves with in an interval of seconds.
I tried to make simple sketches with watching youtube videos and then started to designed.
My first experience in Onshape is that it is not simple like dragging andplacing preloaded shapes like in TinkerCAD.
It was little hard than what I expected.But even I want to study it.
So I decided to make a plate with some characters on it.
Firstly I have to choose asketch plane and then started to Draw.
There are many geometrical shapes which I can draw like line,rectangle,ellipse circle etc.
Then I extruded the drawings. Extruding is used for converting 2D in to 3D
By using this What I learned is:
The design I done in Onshape will be easier if I am using in tinker CAD. Just drag the square shapes. Adjust the sizes of x,Y and Z.Then add Letters over it,Group it.
But here I have to create 2D firstly. Then Generate the 3D by extruding.
So this one will be very good for making advanced things.
So I think I can design my final project in Onshape.
2D Design Gimp YouiDrw
Whether you’re getting started or an experienced designer, Drawing tool is a powerful graphic design solution . With vector graphic design in various environment, you have everything you need to express your style and creativity.
I am using the GIMP application for designing in 2D. I am thinking of about making the sticker which I can use for the following week as well as following week.
Since I am new in design,I opened a new I created a new account and started to design.
But as a starter I have many limitations. I just created a text out of text tool in GIMP
In youiDraw There are many helping commands in each tools and there by it is easier to create tings using that.
I created account in the youidraw as well. So that I can study the things in free time.
